Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent ⢠Experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred, or candidate is enrolled in pharmacy training pr! ogram or pharmacy school. ⢠Basic knowledge of a typewriter or computer keyboard ⢠Ability to perform basic math calculations ⢠Eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Illinois (becomes registered within 60 days of hiring.) If not certified upon hire, must attain status as a Certified Pharmacy Technician within (2) years after the original issuance of their registration in accordance with the Illinois Pharmacy Practie Act (P.A. 095-0689) in order to continue to perform pharmacy technician duties. Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., preparing IV admixtures, use of a keyboard). May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit dose cassettes and IV solutions. Ability to transport cart containing patient medication cassettes to patient care areas. Walking or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours ) is often necessary. Must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job. Ability to perfo! rm work accurately with attention to detail within specified t! ime periods. Ability to read small print on medication labels Ability to work cooperatively with healthsystem and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to work a variety of shifts to meet the staffing needs of the department. Ability to set priorities and solve problems. Ability to respond quickly to emergenct requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Ability to assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and documentation to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Accountabiliti! es: 1. Proficiency gained, as training progresses, in the preparation and delivery of medications to provide patients and customers with accurate and prompt delivery of products. 2. Proficiency gained, as training progresses, in the preparation of sterile products using aseptic technique and application of infection control procedures maintaining the health and safety of associates and patients. 3. Application of procedures and documentation as required, satisfying legal, regulatory, and department requirements of pharmacy practice. 4. Utilization of automation and technology to maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition, to efficiently perform job functions, and to serve as a resource for other pharmacy associates and nurses who use the technology. 5. Application of procedures to specific situations and participation in projects and teams to provide quality customer services, and address administrative needs of the pharmacy department. 6. Maintenance of med! ication and supply inventory to prevent stockouts, limit overstock, min! imize waste, and provide efficient customer service.
