The Clinical Consultant serves as the primary liaison between Catamaran clinical operations, professional practice, and clinical products and the consultant's assigned client base. The role provides clinical support for Catamaran account management, operations, information technology, and other internal departments. This individual is relied upon to provide proactive clinical recommendations to clients and foster consultative relationships.
Collaborates with clients to establish achievable but aggressive clinical program goals, including generic dispensing rate improvements, implementation of utilization management programs, improvement in medication adherence rates, improvements in therapy gaps for key chronic disease states, formulary compliance targets, and HEDIS & NCQA measures.
Provide superior clinic! al consultation and clinical account management with a focus o! n client satisfaction, client retention, and trend management
Comprehends and effectively explains formulary and clinical program changes to clients
Stays aware of and provides clinical market intelligence to clients
Provides education for clients, pharmacists, members and physicians per contractual requirements
Communicates drug information to clients and responds to plan-specific clinical inquiries
Formulate and deliver client recommendations based on available data
Identifies opportunities for clinical program up-sell
Makes clinically sound recommendations to clients based on trend
Routinely collaborating with account management to provide clinical aspects of client quarterly reviews
Travel as required
Other duties as assigned
Knowledgeable about drug development pipeline and new generics
Knowledgeable about industry best practices
Is up to date and stays updated on treatment and practice guidelines
Ability to ! translate clinical recommendations to member and client impact
Able to analyze & interpret claims data, cost drivers, trends, and patterns
Understands financial terms of contracts including clinical performance guarantees, rebate guarantees, and generic dispensing rate guarantees
Aligns corporate initiatives with client goals
Understands PBM and pricing terminology
Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and computer skills
Client relationship and customer service mindset
Is highly responsive to internal and client requests, questions, and communications
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required
Current state pharmacy license (RPh.) required
At least two years managed care pharmacy practice, PBM, or equivalent experience preferred
Formulary development, P&T committee involvement, and drug utilization review familiarity preferred
