 We are looking for a Pastoral Care for an International school based in Chengdu. This is a full-time position starting from the upcoming academic year.

About the role
The pastoral care will provide visionary leadership and demonstrate strong skills in educational and pastoral management. They will collaborate with the Pedagogical Leadership team to implement the school's mission statements, focusing on the International Baccalaureate (IB).

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, supervise, and evaluate the pastoral care program as a member of the school leadership team
  • Support the school's strategic plan, board policy, and relevant policies and procedures
  • Enhance and support student learning by promoting the development of Approaches to Learning skills
Responsibilities towards Students
  • Maintain a safe and positive atmosphere for students
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of disciplinary guidelines
  • Assist in implementing effective programs for student discipline, attendance, and individual progress monitoring
Responsibilities towards Teachers and Support Staff
  • Evaluate staff in accordance with prescribed procedures as a member of the leadership team
  • Contribute to recruitment efforts as needed
  • Use data to improve teaching practices and enhance student learning
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Social Committee, ensuring alignment with the school’s culture and goals
Communication Responsibilities
  • Foster public relations within the school community, including regular meetings with parents and contributing written articles to school publications.
  • Keep parents well informed about school issues and events.
  • Cultivate positive relationships between the school and parents.
  • Maintain visibility and engage with the community.
  • Inform the Early Years and Primary Principal and Management Team about any relevant issues impacting staff, students, and parents.
Professional Development
  • Provide opportunities for professional growth by setting goals and objectives
  • Serve as a role model for continuous learning and a growth mindset
Facilities
  • Collaborate with the Head of Administration & Operations and logistics to address maintenance issues and ensure student safety
  • Envision the design of a future-ready school where facilities support a 21st-century learning environment
  • Maintain and update the school calendar of events for accuracy
Administration
  • Work in partnership with the school leadership team to achieve school objectives
  • Participate in and lead committees as requested by the Early Years and Primary School Principal
  • Promote and model the use of technology to access, analyze, and interpret school data for improving student learning
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Early Years and Primary Principal
  • Maintain close collaboration with the Early Years and Primary Principal and be familiar with all administrative aspects of the school
  • Supervise the coordination of major school functions
  • Act as secretary at staff meetings and briefing meetings when the Early Years and Primary Principal's PA is absent, ensuring distribution and storage of meeting minutes
  • Assist with student orientation and registration activities
  • Support Logistics with emergency drills and evacuations
  • Coordinate After School Activities
  • Assist in resolving parent complaints in liaison with the Head of School and EC & Primary Assistant Principal
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head of School
Boarding
  • Oversee the Boarding operation to ensure the health and safety of students and staff living on campus
  • Train all Boarding duty Masters & Matrons on the requirements and expectations for overseeing students in a boarding house
  • Coordinate the Boarding Master/Matron duty roster
