The Director of Clinical Affairs located in Northbrook, IL, will be responsible for overseeing and supporting clinical and formulary management activities and initiatives for Medicare and Medicaid with the goal of maintaining clinical appropriateness, accuracy and clinical consistency. This position will direct and be responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of Medicare and Medicaid formularies and related processes, ensuring full compliance with CMS rules and regulations. Additional responsibilities include leading clinical workgroups supporting product development, web services, enterprise formulary initiatives, Health Care Reform and additional clinical activities based on the organizational and marketplace needs.
The role will consult as a subject matter expert, facilitate clinical decision-making and will provide clinical leadership and direction on requests for information both internally and externally with significant focus in the areas of Formulary and Utilization Management in Commercial and Government environments. This position will also assist with the coordination of clinical activities to meet organizational goals, client needs, performance standards, and Plan requirements while ensuring compliance with established Policies and Procedures, Best Practices and applicable regulations and standards.

Minimum Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy and be a licensed pharmacist in the state of residence. A Masters or higher level degree in business preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years experience in a Managed Care environment and a minimum of (5) years of management experience. Preference will be given for individuals with in depth knowledge of Formulary Management in Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid environments and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee decision making process. Strong Clinical skills and knowledge required. In-depth knowledge of managed markets and understanding of commercial and government payer’s landscape and marketplace needs. Strong organizational and communication skills and proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization. Able to work across boundaries and locations, have attention to detail, and understand the impacts of their function to the organization, clients, and plan participants. Demonstrates strong strategic thinking and ability to distill strategic concepts into actionable tactics. Demonstrates leadership traits by way of example rather than by organizational hierarchy. Supports Clinical Development efforts with the ability to identify opportunities, define approach, develop project plans and oversee implementation of clinically-related projects and services. Knowledge of the regulatory environment including CMS, URAC, NCQA and other applicable standards. _x000D_ _x000D_
