More details about this job opportunity kindly read the description below. The Clinical Dietitian serves all patients who have been referred for a nutritional assessment/consultation. The Clinical Dietitian reports to the Nutrition Department Manager. The C! linical Dietitian is responsible for collecting pertinent information, development of appropriate care plans, monitoring the status of patients, counseling patient and family on special nutritional requirements, consulting with other health personnel (physician, nurse, pharmacist, case manger, therapist, etc.) as appropriate.
The Clinical Dietitian, as a member of the clinical staff, participates in matters relating to quality assurance, productivity, diet manual(s) coordination, revision of patient education materials and standards of care, participation on hospital committees, employee/staff training and scheduling, and community presentations. Employee is responsible for personal development. The Clinical Dietitian assists in supporting the highest possible patient satisfaction levels, program effectiveness and achievement of goals.
MINIMAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: (necessary to adequately perform the Job Functions)
- Registered and Lice! nsed Dietitian (preferred, License Eligible required).
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Personal and professional integrity.
- Ability to work effectively under some pressures and meet established goals and objectives.
- Flexible in work schedule to include evenings and weekends in order to meet program/customer needs.
- Is able to adequately perform the Essential Functions of this Job; as well as being capable of meeting its Functional and Environmental Requirements. Financial:
- Adheres to cost containment efforts of the hospital with regard to education materials, supplements and budgeted hours.
- Addresses budgeting issues as they occur.
- Responsible for specific employee/associate/staff training classes.
- Assists in hiring and orientation of new dietitians and dietetic technicians.
- Assists with revisions of job descriptions and performance evaluations, and participates in annual peer reviews.
- Responsible for training/education of dietetic interns as assigned.
- Conducts nutritional screening, assessment, planning and evaluation according to Standards of Care with appropriate medical chart documentation.
- Counsels patients and families on nutritional modifications.
- Uses a variety of education techniques to instruct all levels of learning.
- Leads Nutrition education groups and workshops in inpatient and outpatient programs.
- Covers for fellow Clinical Dietitians and/or the Nutrition Department Manager during vacations/illness.
- Compiles, develops and revises educational materials fo! r all populations.
- Assists in maintenance of current nutrient ! analysis of products/foods served to patients.
- Assists in the implementation of activities/programs while promoting a positive professional image with medical and ancillary staff.
- Develops, tracks and evaluates quality assurance indicators.
- Maintains accurate records for communicating nutritional care plans.
- Promotes and assists in maintaining quality objectives.
- Participates in revisions of Standards of Care, and Policy and Procedures.
- Conducts patient tray and meal choices assessments as needed.
- Demonstrates effective communication and listening skills, including use of tact and sensitivity while communicating with employees, patients and family, and physicians.
- Interfaces proactively with all related departments (Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.)
- Participates on assigned hospital committe! es.
- Completes projects accurately and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates awareness of patient's needs as a total person (physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, cultural, etc.) consistent with patient's age and developmental or educational level.
- Shares in the Hospital's Vision, demonstrates its Values and Workplace Ethics, supports its Philosophy, and is sensitive to its Mission.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows Departmental and Hospital guidelines related to Guest Services activities in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Is knowledgeable of and conforms to the Administrative Policy on "Abuse and Interpersonal Violence: Guidelines for Treatment in Emergency and Hospital Setting." (JCAHO Requirement) (NOTE: Only for direct patient care jobs.)
- Adheres to and follows the Hospital's policies, procedures and Compliance Program.
- Follows a regimen for professional growth, (e.g! . by attending various meetings, conferences, and courses), obtains 15 ! CEU's per year and completes CDR Recertification as applicable.
- Maintains required licensure for State of Illinois.
- Performs all other Job Functions related to this Job.
