Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. â¢This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a ! variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging: prior experience with various age groups is preferred. â¢Good written and oral communication skills â¢A good understanding of the clinical hospital environment. â¢General knowledge of IV solutions, aseptic technique, and therapeutic agents. â¢Current Illinois Registered Pharmacist License. ⢠Frequent and rapid manipulation of syringes and needles can result in needle sticks. â¢The position requires the ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time and being in constant motion. â¢The position requires the ability to act quickly in responses to STAT or Emergency situations. â¢By virtue of its nature, the job is a highly stressful one. â¢The scope of this position requires flexibility in the schedule and work activities. â¢There is a potential of exposure to toxic drugs and disease stat! es. â¢The position requires the ability to lift up to 30lbs.,! as well as minor climbing. â¢The position requires the ability to work closely with others. â¢Pharmacists work under laminar flow hoods, biological containment cabinets, operate sophisticated measuring devices, pumps, word processor, personal computers, Allegra and MegaSource terminals, and computerized drug purchasing equipment.
Ability to review all medication orders to determine appropriateness, safety, and efficacy of therapy. Ability to compound and dispense medications in accordance with Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations; Professional Standards; Departmental Policies and Procedures. Ability to provide clinical expertise as it relates to pharmaceutical therapy for the benefit of the professional Staff and patients of the Institution. Accountabilities: 1. Ability to determine the appropriateness, safety and efficacy of drug therapy regimens. Reports medication errors and clinical interventions as appropriate. 2. Ab! ility to be responsible for the compounding and dispensing of medications in accordance with Federal, State and Local rules and regulations. 3. Ability to provide clinical services and expertise as they relate to Pharmaceutical Therapy for the benefit of the Professional Staff and patients of the Institution. 4. Ability to provide direction and supervision of support personnel and is active in the training and development of training programs for new associates. 5. Ability to participate in the development and implementation of departmental programs. Is active in departmental quality assessment. 6. Ability to be responsible for staying abreast of clinical (and operational) pharmaceutical developments. 7. Ability to assume other related responsibilities as assigned.
