Under the direction of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician performs pharmacy related functions, in compliance with policies and procedures t! hat provide optimal pharmaceutical care.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:
Completes rounds in a timely manner
Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing
Prepack bulk medications into unit dose packaging for dispensing to patients
Takes inventory and maintains pharmacy stock in work areas
Triage telephone calls
Perform monthly assigned area inspections "The Q"
Assist other pharmacy technicians
Refills Pyxis Medstations with unit dosages with 95% accuracy and delivers meds to patient units or Pyxis medstations
Performs routine scheduled rounds to nursing units to deliver and pick up medications
Processes daily patient charges and credits accordingly
Fills and dispenses pharmaceutical orders for outpatient clinics and other hospital departments within a 95% accuracy rate
Assure general cleanliness and appearance of the unit dose area of the pharmacy
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ab! ility to establish, maintain, and promote effective working re! lationships
Good communication skills
Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures
Knowledge of medications and medicals supplies
Knowledge of record-keeping techniques
Basic understanding of computer technology
Ability to work flexible schedules
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year hospital pharmacy experience preferred
CERTIFICATION:
Registered with the Illinois State Board of Pharmacy
National certification desired
Additional Information
Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
