Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmacy • General knowledge of computer applications • Understanding of a hospital environment • Good interpersonal skills, to deal with a wide variety of individuals • State registration as a pharmacist obtained within 60 days of hiring. • Schedule flexibility, to meet the needs of the institution and system. • Mobility, to attend patient care rounds, code blue emergencies, review patient charts, and attend meetings in various hospital loc! ations. • Ability to act and make decisions in emergency sit! uations. • Good interpersonal skills in order to effectively work with others. • Ability to prepare and dispense medications aseptically. • Ability to measure small quantities accurately. • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work to complete urgent tasks preferentially. • Ability to do light lifting to receive and deliver medications, as needed. (Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.) • Ability to push carts containing large quantities of medications or IV solutions for delivery to multiple nursing areas. • There is potential of exposure of toxic drugs and patients with multiple disease states.
Provide pharmaceutical care in collaboration with patients, physicians and other health care professionals to ensure high quality and cost effective customer service. Supervise pharmacy technicians and document transactions to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements. C! oordinate daily operations and participate in projects to maintain and improve pharmacy services. Accountabilities: 1. Provision of pharmaceutical care, in collaboration with patients, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, to ensure patients receive appropriate, safe and effective medication therapy (clinical services). 2. Completion of technical functions to support the provision of quality pharmaceutical care for our patients (distributive functions). 3. Application of procedures and documentation as required to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements of pharmacy practice. 4. Supervision of daily operations and participation in projects and teams to ensure provision of quality and cost effective pharmacy services. 5. Communication to effectively assist in teaching and training, provide quality pharmacy services, and address administrative needs of the pharmacy department.
