:

Reporting to the Pharmacy Operations Manager, under close supervision and following prescribed procedures, assists Staff Pharmacists in proces! sing physician medication orders by ensuring medications are promptly, accurately and safely delivered, charged for and credited.

Prepares medication for delivery to patients by using department procedures for safe automation restocking. Maintains records related to drug use and charges.

This position requires the Technician to be proficient in the use of all pharmacy automation.

Although duties may vary by assigned area or shift, the following accurately describes the essential job functions.

Employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

:

1.

The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served.

This requires that! the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of gro! wth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.

2.

Ability to read and write in order to review and update patient profiles, understand and follow written and verbal instructions in order to mix solutions and prepare medica­tions, and perform basic arithmetic calculations when filling prescrip­tions, measuring I.V. solutions and so forth at a level normally acquired through completion of high school. Knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology helpful.

3.

Ability to type at acceptable levels of speed and accuracy in order to enter data into computer systems to prepare medication labels at a level normally acquired through completion of one to three months course work in touch?typing which can be obtained in high school.

4.

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with various

pers! onnel when gathering and exchanging factual pharmaceutical information.

5.

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to seventy?five percent of work time when packaging medications, preparing ADM med runs, maintaining records and the like.

6.

Current state license as a Pharmacy Technician required. Must be a current Certified Pharmacy Technician.
