JOB SUMMARY Assists Pharmacist in the retail pharmacy under direct supervision with all medication dispensing functions. Accurately fills medication cassettes/orders according to comp! uter generated documents. Enters patient charges into the computer system. Prepares basic IV solutions. Restocks inventory. Answers and forwards telephone messages. Delivers patient medications to patient care areas as directed. May be required to work alternate shifts and overtime during peak periods. Performs monthly unitcheck. Prepakages medications accurately and efficiently. Accurately compounds basic pharmaceuticals at the direction of the pharmacist. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, accurately fills medication cassettes/orders according to computer generated documents.
Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
Restocks inventory and provides general maintenance of stock area(including repackaging of pharmaceuticals and monitoring of outdated drugs.
Processes and enters patient charges and ancillary department charges into the computer.
Prepares basic intrav! enous solutions.
Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware! according to prescribed methods.
Answers and forwards telephone messages.
Delivers patient medication to patient care areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
High School Graduate.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
All Pharmacy Technicians are required to advance to a Pharmacy Technician II job status ( JC 819) within twelve months from the first date of employment. Existing technicians are required to advance to a Pharmacy Technician II job status within six months. Failure to achieve a Pharmacy Technician II job status may result in termination.
