:
Reports to the Manager of Pharmacy and is responsible for establishing and promoting rational pediatric drug therapy and education to pharmacists, physicians, and allied health professionals.
Responsible for the continuing education of health care professionals.
Performs drug therapy monitoring services, and conducts research on human subjects, including biostatistics and methodology.
Recommends development of clinical services and protocol.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to pediatric patients.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
:
1.
The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide pediatric patient care.
This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the pediatric patients and their families.
2.
Knowledge of drugs and other pharmaceuticals, laws relating to the same, at a level normally acquired through completion of a Pharm.D. degree with pediatric residency or 5 years experience with primary clinical focus on pediatrics.
3.
Current State license as a Pharmacist required.
4.
Approximately three to five years progressively more responsible related work experience in a clinical pharmacy to develop a background in clinical pharmacokinetics.
5.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with various medical center personnel when training staff pharmacists/students, and educating physicians regarding clinical pharmacokinetics.
6.
Analytical skills necessary in order to conduct research, develop training programs, master mathematical formulas for pharmacokinetic dosing.
